Thought I Could Friday -work in progress
We are reflecting on one goal we wanted to achieve this week. We celebrated with everyone what we accomplished.
This year, we have been learning that we have neuroplastic brains. That means that our brains grow even when we make mistakes. When we change our "mindset" and start to see that mistakes make us smarter, we learn that we have a growth mindset. Not a mind that is fixed. Throughout the year, we have been challenging ourselves to find moments where we have seen our growth. We are also doing activities with friends that help us to challenge our brains. So look for those posts....more coming soon!

ELL Parent Night 2016
First Parent Night for the school year. We had a great turnout and lots of hungry friends. We learned about District technology, parent involvement, and building school "community." We met September 21st in room 37. As you can see, our snacks were also a hit!

Please RSVP any of the ELL teachers. We hope to see you May 1st!
Some of the ELL students have the prividge of using Chrome Books in their classrooms. When the Third grade students come to ELL class, the lessons are modified so students can continue using technology in ELL class. Here are some of our students sharing with other ELLs who didn't have access to the Chrome Books.
With ACCESS testing completed in February, and spring break over, now we are back to regular classroom activities.
The ACCESS testing window is open from January 6 and closes February 28, 2014. ACCESS for ELLs stands for Assessing Comprehension and Communication in English for English Languag Learners. It is a test of English language proficiency based on the WIDA Standards. The test assesses students' English language proficiency in five areas: Social and Intructional Language, the language of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science and Social Studies. If you would like more information about WIDA please use the link at the right. It will take you to the website which provides more information.
The English Langauage Development program at Manor Hill Elementary works with students with limited English proficiency in the domains of listening, speaking, reading and writing.
We love, love, love Imagine Learning. Imagine Learning is a web based literacy program that is tailored to the literacy needs of English Language Learners. A research based instructional program that personalizes the language acquisition experience by providing systematic instruction that adapts to each student's needs.
Coming soon--Imagine Learning at home. We are also so fortunate that students will be able to access their individual learning from home.
Welcome back to school.
